This is at the late Steve Irwin's Australian Zoo. Really a special
place, there is a unique attitude to the animals here. It's not
uncommon while wandering through this place to be passed by
by one of the animals being taken for a 'walk'...through the place by a
keeper. So I was passed by a wombat on a leash, a camel, and behind a
fence, a jaguar too... In the shows (they need a new sound system
badly, it echos) the animals are tame, but are given as much free will
as they can have too... so parrots didn't come back when asked but on
their own time... the staff are awsome, and mr Irwin's legacy and
enthusiasm live on.
