Cubic video
well it's december 21st and I still have christmas shopping to
do!
still, I wanted to show you my first tests of cubic video.
THESE DON'T WORK IN THE BROWSER YET! ( a plugin should be available
early in the new year)
You'll need to get the video warp player.
(mac or windows)
first I translated the old Hexacam shot so
it warps.
Then I started working with my new ladybug 2. This was my first cubic
in a very yellow room.
Another test was at a support session at the
point grey office. The colours look better here...
Frame rate and fluidity of motion are my next projects. There is
realtime hardware compression
so I should be able to turn it up, and get more frames per second with
a slightly worse image quality.

Dec 24:
Snowball fight.
Keep your eye on my oldest daughter in the red. I fall back and give a
longshot snowball throw, and hit her right in the head.
She barely notices since she's under attack from the 6 year old...
When I look straight up I can see my snowball cross the sky. Can you?

XMAS Stocking Opening
There doesn't seem to be a way to set the default view, please pan away
from me...
This looked better at 18meg but this 4.8 meg version is fun
too... My
father used to drive us crazy with his 1950's movie making
on christmas morning..a huge light bar that blinded us. I continued
this tradition, making the kids wait for 15 minutes while I set up
the tripod and cords. At least the laptop etc. are hidden here, but I
clearly need to learn to adjust the lighting parameters indoors..

jan 3 2008
finally figured out how to present this in flash. Should work in the
browser if you have flash 9...
There is a zoom in and out in this player although there are no
buttons. On my mac laptop it's
shift and command.
The snowball fight is here
a flash xmas movie is here
Here's an infinite
loop

NightFlash
It's 3 nights before we leave on our around the world trip and I
still have no remote battery system to power the ladybug 2.
I've spent 3 days of my limited time on the problem and failed to come
up with something light enough to carry and the right volts
and amps for the camera. Then I wake uup in the middle of the night and
decide to try powering it using the laptop's battery over
the built in firewire.
It
seems to work. So I buy 2 extra lithium polymer laptop
batteries the day I leave vancouver and cross my fingers!
